Erick’a Birthday Shoot
I am always stoked when people come back year after year for their photo shoots. It’s a sign that other people share my passion and agree that creative photography is valuable and transformative. Ericka is one of those people. This is the third year she trusted me to help her celebrate her birthday. She brought a concept that was refined, elegant, and powerful. We used lingerie, bodysuits, and a dress to showcase her confidence and growth.
People who follow my work know that it often incorporates nudity as a way to rebel against outdated ideas that tell women bodies are obscene. But, not every shoot has to have nudity. Everyone is free to rebel in their own way. For Ericka, that meant lingerie, bodysuits and a little black dress paired with clean lighting and elegant posing. The resulting images were intimate and empowering in a way that was personal to her.
What makes Ericka’s sessions special to me, is the tradition behind them. Each year, she trusts me to help make her birthday a celebration of herself through art. It’s a powerful and positive event. Stepping in front of the camera isn’t just to document her appearance, but also her evolution. For me, it’s an honor to be trusted with her journey and to transform her vision into artwork she can appreciate for the rest of her life.
