The Leopard
At one point Diana had leopard print hair. That sparked an idea to do a leopard print body paint shoot. It was going to be my most complicated body paint shoot yet. Prior to this shoot I had mainly done solid or two-tone colors.
However, I was excited to try something this difficult. Diana and her boyfriend at the time came by and we got started. It turns out I had severely underestimated the amount of time that it took to do this kind of body paint. I had assumed that because I would be using stencils for the leopard print that it would go quickly. However, when you take into account the number of coats that you need to put as a base before you can even start putting on the leopard print it takes much longer than you think. All in all I think the entire process of getting her painted took over six hours.
So what that means for me is that in the future I will probably not try something as complicated as this by hand. At some point, I will likely get myself an airbrush kit and see if that makes things go quicker. If it doesn’t, I might just leave the body paint to people who are experts at body paint. The biggest downside to the body paint taking so long was that all of us were already exhausted by the time we were ready to start shooting.
It’s probably one of my faults that I am very interested in everything artistic and I’m always wanting to try something new when it comes to the arts. Even though I’m not as good at some of the other art forms I think it helps me with my photography. So, I’m unlikely to stop trying new things in the future.
